All teeth play an important role when speaking, chewing and maintaining proper alignment of other teeth and of course, in overall appearance. Tooth loss doesn’t necessarily have to occur as you age, but if you do lose teeth they must be replaced to maintain proper oral function. In cases where an entire tooth is missing, we can put in a porcelain bridge, replacing the tooth and reinforcing it by attaching it to the teeth on either side.

Porcelain Crowns are dental restorations also known as “caps”. Crowns are necessary when a tooth is chipped or fractured, when there is a broken old filling, or hypersensitivity. If you are missing part of a tooth, we can replace the missing portion with a porcelain crown.

They are made of natural looking materials such as porcelain or zirconium to improve your smile and oral health. Crowns are also used to improve the appearance of natural teeth that are malformed, mispositioned or discolored.
Some of the indications for a crown or a bridge are:

  • Extensive damage by decay or pre-existing large fillings.
  • In cases where an entire tooth is missing.
  • Discolorations and compromised esthetics.
  • Considerable fractures.
  • Root canal – After root canal, teeth tend to become more fragile and exposed to fractures (These teeth need to be protected by a crown).
